Must-have productsMy husband worked a part-time job at the Container Store this summer, which resulted in several Container Store shopping trips because the employee discount is great!  Out of these shopping trips I found two products that I love having in my studio.

The first item is these multi-colored page markers made by Semikolon.  Aren’t the colors so beautiful?  I’ve found many uses for these in my studio.  I have use them to mark pages in my students books so they can find them easily, or to mark where their current assignment sheet is in their notebook.  The thing I love the most is that these are transparent, so I can stick them in music without blocking anything underneath.  I like to use them to mark a tough section that needs extra practice, or just to mark section divisions in a piece.

I also recently used them in my beginning group class to mark keys on the keyboard.  If you’re familiar with Faber’s My First Piano Adventures, one of the early pieces is Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and they suggest marking C with something green and G with something red, since the student has not yet learned key names.  I stuck these on the keys and it worked perfectly.

This second is these weekly calendar sticky notes.  These have been a lifesaver for me!  I use them to keep track of any changes in my schedule from week to week: cancellations, rescheduled lessons, etc.  It is much more organized than my former system of multiple sticky notes stuck all over the place.  And, I can easily glance at it to see what I have open the next week to schedule all of those dreaded make-up lessons.  With 60 in the package, they will last you more than a year!

Do you have any new products that are now must-haves for your studio?  I would love to know what they are!
