A few weeks ago I posted a TED talk about grit and shared how I think piano lessons do a great job at developing grit and therefore preparing students for success in life.  The TED talk I’m sharing today is about body language and how our posture can actually affect our confidence and attitude.  As you watch this TED talk, think about what a “power pose” could do for your students before a recital, or even for you?  I was surprised that this is something I’ve never heard of in all the talk about performance anxiety that is currently circulating in the music world.

So, maybe next time you have a performance try it out!  Stand like superwoman (or superman) backstage and see if you end up feeling more confident.  If it works for you it may work for your students!
