The weeks are flying by and it’s time for our thirteenth Tuesday Teaching Tactic!  Our tip for this week is to take a step back.  As teachers who want to help our students succeed, we often jump in right when they hit a challenge.  But, sometimes our students need to figure things out on their own.  The next time your student gets stuck, wait a minute, take a step back.  See what happens when you let them work it out on their own.  You might find your student is more capable than you thought!  Just like we discussed in last week’s tip, we want to work to build our students into independent learners.  If we are always stepping in to rescue them they never have a chance to work through challenges on their own.  Give this a try in lessons this week and let us know how it goes!
