So quick post today – it’s Amazon Prime Day! We always love finding deals and today there’s a book deal going on. $5 off a book of $15 or more with the code PRIMEBOOKS17. Now if you’re looking to boost your piano bookshelf, here are a few we would recommend. And if you have any ideas for us to buy today, we’d love to hear them so please share!

*The Pianist’s Guide to Standard Teaching & Performance Literature, by Jane Magrath

This is a classic reference book in my piano library. I have sticky tabs all through my copy right now as I prepare lesson plans for next year and plan student repertoire for competitions.

*Creative Piano Teaching, by James Lyke, Geoffrey Hayden, and Catherine Rollin

Awesome resource for every piano teacher. It is a book I love to reread now that I’m done with school to remind myself about so many aspects of teaching.

*The Science and Psychology of Music Performance: Creative Strategies for Teaching and Learning, by Richard Parncutt & Gary McPherson

This is a book I have not read but heard good things about. I’m hoping to read it on my Kindle soon. It’s an area that really interests me and something I think we as piano teachers always need to be aware of  as we help our students perform better.

*Piano Teacher’s Guide to Creative Composition, by Carol Klose

I’ve linked to this before, but this is a favorite of mine. Each week I pull this out to get a new idea or help a student develop a composition further. It’s amazing to have in your studio!! It isn’t enough to use the discount (it’s just under $10) but it’s great to just add on to any order!

*Celebration Series, Piano Repertoire or Etude Books, by Royal Conservatory

These are great repertoire collections that are a bit expensive so if nothing else, grab a new repertoire from the 2015 edition. I’m still working to collect more of the new edition but it’s a slow process. But I love all the varied music they have in the repertoire and etude books!

Just a few ideas to get you started! I hope you can use the Prime discounts today!
